課程說明

The course aims to not only advance students’ general English proficiency but, more importantly, to broaden students’ horizon of not only viewing their own country but also comprehending the international world. To achieve the goal, students of this course will be assigned to read news articles from publishers of global prestige such as The Economist, The Guardian, The New York Times, The Strait Times, to name just a few. With the reading practices and training as has illustrated, students are expected to master English as well as enhance a knowledge of the global conditions that intellectuals ought to possess. The course will be conducted mainly in English yet interwoven with Chinese translation for text explanation.

本課教學目標在帶領學生閱讀英文新聞雜誌與報紙，以期同時提升學生的英文能力與對世界趨勢的掌握。上課將以英文為主，並輔以中文。
